Osteoarthritis of the Hip occurs with the degeneration of cartilage around the hip causing pain and discomfort. People who suffer from this condition may walk with a limp or notice that the pain is aggrivated when they move. It is a condition that develops over time and usually effects more men than women. Treatment should be focused on limiting any pain the patient experiences and helping the patient with day-to-day activities.

Surgical procedure that involves the removal of diseased cartilage and bone from the hip. The hip joint is then replaced with artificial materials. People who suffer from osteoarthritis are candidates for hip replacement surgery.
